VIETRI SUL MARE

Vietri sul Mare is the eastern doorway to the Amalfi Coast. Coming from Salerno, Vietri is the first resort you encounter; a little gem of the Amalfi Coast to give you a very special welcome! The popular beach of Marina di Vietri, with the Torre Crestarella, whose park gives access to another little beach. Beaches, natural scenary for long and healthy walks, breathtaking panorama and historical traditions such as the Ceramic production. The colourful Ceramica of Vietri renowned all over the World,  is a tradition dating back to the 15th century. Today the Ceramic Artworks are, also, an attraction for tourists and visitors coming to the Amalfi Coast. Don’t miss the chance to visit a local Ceramic Factory and assist or take part at the ceramic processing, making by yourself a personalized ceramic work. You can choose a full immersion course which will give you all the basic knowledge, theory and practice, to make and decor the ceramic.

A bit away from the sea, surranded by a wild natural scenery, you can explore paths and go hiking. The paths that connect the high fractions of Raito, Albori with natural sources (Source of Caesar) and the fraction of high Dragonea with the valley of Cava de’ Tirreni and the Abbey. In this path you come to a junction leading to the paths of Avvocatella and Advocate. The latter  is called “Path of the Gods” because you can enjoy divine and incomparable views. Eventually you will get to the Pertuso Mount above Positano.
Discover the Abbey (Badia) of Cava de’ Tirreni, just few minutes away; years ago the monks of the Abbay used Marina di Vietri as a commercial port. The result was the art of making boats! In Marina di Vietri there were the “shipwrights,” craftsmen able to cut and shape wood needed to build the frames, the frames of the “purse seine“, which were used for fishing. Another type of boat was the “crop”, il gozzo which today is still a typical boat of the Amalfi Coast. Trekking or on the horseback, you can admire the “Divine“, Amalfi Coast, and the spectacular view in a very nice way; always escorted by experts and  locals.
Take part to the local traditions, moments of daily life, sharing a bit of your time with people who love their place and the traditions. Get involved with a very little village where the place and the people is humbleness will impress you!
